CHAPTER 05.05: SYSTEM OF
EQUATIONS: Rank of a matrix Definition In
this segment we will talk about what the definition of a rank of a matrix is.
Rank of a matrix is defined as the order of the largest square submatrix
whose determinant is not zero so what that means is somebody gives you a
matrix it can be rectangular it can be square you find out hey what is the
largest order the largest order submatrix which we can find out of the matrix
which is given to you for which the determinant is not equal to zero that
becomes the rank of the matrix the number and we’ll talk about this through
examples. But this is the end of this segment. |
